8 weeks- sour candy is the winner today!

Wow- it's been a while since I've written you. I've been busy at work and by the time I get home, I'm completely exhausted!!! Daddy and I have been busy the last 2 weekends so I finally got a breather today to write.

I'm normally not the type of person that can fall asleep sitting in a chair but lately, that isn't the case. We were so busy this past Saturday that I had about an hour break between events and I actually feel asleep sitting in the chair. Daddy had to wake me up to tell me to leave to the next function- I was meeting "the Mamas" for pedicures. You'll get to know them very well. Cindy has Cole who is 2 months older than Ava, Reese will be born this week; Christina has Markus who is a month older than Ava, Landis or Braxton will be born 6 weeks before you; Paige has Blair who is 3 months younger than Ava, and Brooke was born just 4 months ago; Mindy has Madeline who is 4 months younger than Ava, and Megan was just born a month ago. We all have a great time together and it is wonderful that all our kids are close in age.

I've been wishy/washy with food lately. One moment, I'm starving and want to eat every few hours and the next minute, I'm stuffed from a small meal and don't want to eat the rest of the week (I do eat but only because I have to). This weekend, I was craving some chocolate chip muffins and sausage balls- so I made both. I finished off the sausage balls for breakfast with some coffee, had a pizza pocket for lunch followed by 3 mini popcicles and some Shockers candy. I can't eat enough of these Shockers! I did put some pickle chips on my hotdog this weekend so maybe I'm craving sour a little more than when I was pregnant with Ava. I'm really hoping this pregnancy will be similar to the last- I only gained 4 pounds with Ava. I had THE BEST pregnancy and I really want that with you too!!!

We'll get to see you on Monday, April 27th. We're going to have some testing done so they'll be doing a sonogram that day! I'm very excited!!! You'll actually look like a real baby and hopefully we'll get a picture to show off!

I'm about to go get another package of Shockers to snack on while I'm working. You keep growing good in Mommy's belly! I love you, baby!

Yesterday was a great day!

Well yesterday was a great day! I was absolutely miserable having to hold a full bladder of pee! Daddy tried to keep my mind busy by playing "the name game" while we waited to be called. Luckily we were called back 3 minutes before our appointment time! I was SO grateful! We saw your house for the next 8 months and we got to see you and your little heartbeat!!! What a relief!!! Afterwards, we went and ate lunch at Texadelphia. Hope you like it because there will be plenty more times that you'll get to taste that! I called Grandad on our way to lunch and the first thing he asked was if you were one baby or two. Then he asked if we had already thought of boy names and then hesitated and asked about girl names too. I told him that we're always thinking of possible names. He was very excited! Grammy was out running errands so she called me at work when she got home to hear the details. She was very excited too! Before we left their house on Sunday, Grammy said she couldn't wait to look at nursery decorations. That's a few months down the road still but it is exciting to think about it! We'll wait to see if you're a boy or girl. My gut at this moment is boy just because that's what the Chinese gender calendar says you are. Today I ate a banana and some coffee (mostly decaff but a little caff mixed in). I was starving! Need to run but I'll talk to you very soon! I love you sweet baby!

mommy's first blog for you

I kept this wonderful journal for your sister, Ava, when I was pregnant with her. It is so neat to go back and read it now: how I was feeling, how she was growing, what foods I was eating, how Daddy was feeling, what was going on in our lives... I want to give you that same gift- I'm very excited to have the opportunity!

Daddy and I have been trying to conceive you for several months. I was on my third round of the fertility drug, Clomid. My last period was on Monday, February 2nd. I took a pregnancy test on Tuesday, March 3rd. I got up early that morning and was trying to hold off on taking the test for another week but the excitement got the best of me. Right as I'm coming out of the bathroom, Daddy walks into the bathroom. I asked him what he was doing awake so early and he said he couldn't sleep. I pointed for him to walk into the bathroom to see the result. We were both shocked, excited, scared. I came to work and called Dr. Irvin's office that same day. On Thursday, March 5th, I went to see Dr. Irvin and she did some blood work. On Monday, March 9th, I went for another blood test. A couple days later, I got a call from Dr. Irvin's nurse saying that all my pregnancy hormone levels were where they're supposed to be and everything appeared to be normal and healthy.

The first person I told was Paula. I told my hair lady, Jennie Carter when she was coloring my hair on March 5th. I told David Carsey, Jennifer Parker, Matt Parker, Terence Botha, and Laura Domingue when I went to Houston for a short visit on March 6th and 7th. I told Scott and Cindy Szewczyk at church on March 8th. I told Christina Fabianich on the phone on my way home from work one day after she wanted to get together for a playdate/happy hour with our kiddos and hubbies. I told Paige Vincent after she questioned what I was drinking when we were playing Bunco on March 12th (I tried to put grape juice in a solo cup in hopes that people would think it was red wine). Daddy told Uncle Danny at his golf tournament the weekend I was in Houston. When I picked Ava up at school last Friday, Miss Shelly asked if we were going to go drink margaritas (our Friday night family ritual is to go eat Mexican food) so I told her that I would not be partaking in any alcoholic beverages for a while. I told the family on Sunday, March 8th. Grammy and Grandad had everybody over for Sunday dinner and I knew Grandad would ask me if I wanted some wine. My response was "ask me in six more weeks. I don't drink in the first trimester". Everybody was elated!!! Uncle Greg teased me the rest of the day that I'm going to have twin girls.

Today is a very important day! Daddy and I are going to your first ultrasound. I'm hoping and praying that everything is okay and you are healthy and growing good in Mommy's belly! I'm nervous and excited. I have to have 32 oz of water drank by 12:00 and I can't pee until after the ultrasound! I'll let you know how it goes...
